The L-370's is in the Vicinity of the Rigel System. if you travel through L-370 to L-374 in number order, You will find yourself heading straight for Rigel. then onto the most densely populated part of our Galaxy.
In EE32 The USS Constellation, and USS Enterprise Encountered a Device called the Doomsday Machine.

| In EE 31 Starfleet charted 7 Planets in this system. In EE 32 the USS Enterprise Charted Nothing but Rubble. damage that was thought only able to be caused by a Supernova but the Sun was still Intact. |
| L374: 2 Planets Remain |
| This System had some Planets Destroyed by a Device known as
the Doomsday Machine. There were 4 or more planets in it's system before
hand. This is the system the USS Constellation was found in during
the Doomsday Machine Incident.
One Inner Planet has Temperatures of Molten Lead. The other surviving planet has an atmosphere poisonous to human life. One of the destroyed planets was Class M. |
The Doomsday machine Report (USS Constellation):
Captain's Log Stardate 4202.1: Exceptionally Heavy Subspace Interference Still prevents our contacting Starfleet to inform them of the destroyed solar systems we have encountered. We are now Entering system L-374. Science officer Masada reports the 4th planets seems to be breaking up. We are going to investigate.
They saw something hovering over the planet slicing out chunks of it with a force beam. They ran a scanner check on the Beam, to find it was a Pure Anti Proton Beam, Absolutely Pure.
They encounters a Weapon, that is described as, Miles Long, with a Maw that could swallow a dozen Starships. It destroys planets and chops them into rubble.
They attempted to attack, but from a distance. The Doomsday machine Fires, the beam crashed through the deflectors and knocked out the generators. Somehow the Antimatter in the warp drive pods are deactivated.
They tried to contact Starfleet, but no one heard, no one. They couldn't run. They were dead, no power there Phasers were useless. That is when Commodore Decker beams down his crew to the Third Planet. He stayed behind, as the Captain is suppose to be the last man on the ship. Then it hit again and the Transporters went out. After the Transporter went out, the Doomsday Machine begun slicing the planet the crew was on. But with the Transporter out, nothing could be done.

| When Found by the Enterprise, the Constellation's Status
was: All Power Plants Dead, Reserve Power Energy Banks also Operative
on a low power level. Life Support system were also operative on a low
power level. The Entire Bridge was damaged and uninhabitable. The Rest of
the ship was able to support life. The radiation levels were Normal. Further Notes by Chief Engineer Scott: Atmospheric Pressure 11 PSI, Filtration system were out. The Whole Communications system was shorted out. The Warp Drive is a hopeless pile of Junk (would need space dock for repair), but the impulse engines were not to badly off. The Phaser banks were exhausted. Computer system were is still intact. Impulse Control Circuits Fused Solid. Repairs: To get the ship moving I cross-circuited the Impulse with the Warp Drive Control Circuits. I could not push the engines hard or they would have blown apart. I was able to get 1/3ed Power on Impulse, One Phaser Bank recharged, and Shields were working too, Although they would not last long. I also got internal Communications working. The Shape the Impulse engines were in, it was hard to keep her from blowing up. |
She was attacked by what essentially appears to be a Robot. An Automated weapon of immense size and power. It's apparent function is to smash planets to rubble, and and then to digest the debris for food. it is there for self sustaining as long as there are planets for it to feed on.
Using the L-370's systems a course. it appears as though it came from Outside of our Galaxy.
The Doomsday machine Report (USS Enterprise):
USS Enterprise then arrived in the L-370 system to find all the planets had been destroyed. On further Investigation it seems that all Systems within that Sector had lost there planets. The L-374 System still has 2 Planets left when the Enterprise arrived.
They found the USS Constellation Stopped in space, and drifting. They attempted to contact the constellation, but the Heavy Subspace interference stopped it.
On board they found Commodore Matt Decker. With this, they learned the Information above. When Decker beamed aboard the Enterprise the Doomsday Machine arrived.
Sensors indicated it was some sort of total Conversion Drive. Sensor's also show the hull is Solid Neutronium. A single ship can not affect that. Captain Kirk was about to be Beamed aboard when the Enterprise was attacked Knocking out The Transporter. (Status after First Hit, unshielded) Communications were damaged, making it so that they could not over ride the interference of the Machine, for Close range communications.
The Enterprise Outran the Doomsday Machine, (status after second hit, shielded) No Casualties, Impulse and Warp Engine's Operative, Transporters and Communications under Repair.
Decker assume command of the USS Enterprise. he then orders an attack of the Doomsday Machine. Meanwhile Kirk attempts to repair the Constellation. Mainly Phasers and Impulse.
(Third Hit, shielded) Damage Report, Deflector Shields gone, Deck 7 Main Energizer had a power failure. Severe Casualties on Deck 3 and 4. Damage Control Party sealing off inner hull rupture. Bridge Engineering stated that they were in emergency condition 3.
The Enterprise was held by a Tractor beam. USS Enterprise attempts to disengage unsuccessfully, the Constellation ran as a distraction helping freeing the Enterprise.
Enterprise Status, Warp Drive and Deflector's will be out for a solar day. repairs preceding on Transporters and communications. Estimated one solar day for repairs on Warp Drive.
Captain Kirk orders Spock to relieve Relieve Commodore Decker of command, under his personal authority as Captain of the Enterprise.
Commodore Decker Steals a Shuttle craft and fly's it into the Maw of the Doomsday Machine. Sensors indicated that the shuttle had caused a small power drop. This gave Kirk an idea, To Overload the Constellation's Impulse engines, causing an explosion to take out the Doomsday Machine. The Plan Worked.
