Welcome, this page is for research as to star maps. It should be noted that the design of a sector is such that it allows a 2 dimensional map to be Accurate. I refer to the rarely indicated letter scale. I point out 2 of them, the first is in "Balance of Terror" the map refers to Romulus being in Sector Z-6. The second reference in "The Immunity Syndrome" of Sector 39-J.
If we were to accept the Sector Z to be at the bottom of the galaxy then we would have a problem with distances from Earth. But if you notice, the reference to the 2 sectors happen to put the letter on opposite sides. I believe this to indicate which Vertical side of the galaxy you are on. if we place the reference to the letter on the left as the top we put Romulus rather Close to Earth.
| Here is a map of the First 9 Sectors. The Basis
of this design, is the fact that "Amok Time" Suggest that Altair
is in Sector 9. We know that a neutral Zone is in Sector 5 "Star Trek
IV: The Voyager Home", and that the Romulans are in Sector Z-6
"Balance of Terror". The Reason for it's particular placement is
that we also know The Romulans are also near Gamma Hydra which is in the general
Direction of the sector indicated as Sector 7.
I would also note that the Beta Quadrant would have to be lined in Sectors 5,6, and 7. This is opposite of the conventional Wisdom. |
